Carten Esselun, M.Sc.

Carsten Esselun holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in chemistry. For his Ph.D. he is currently exploring the molecular mechanisms of polyunsaturated fatty acids on the balance of n3-/n6 fatty acids and its effects on fatty acid metabolism. Further, he is doing research in frame of the project  “Effect of Walnuts on Mitochondrial Function and Cognition in a Mouse Model of Aging”. 

Methods: qRT-PCR; western blotting; measurement of mitochondrial membrane potential, ATP levels, markers of mitochondrial mass; High-Resolution Respirometry (Oxygraph-2k); western blotting, mitochondrial swelling
